Really Really playwright Paul Downs Colaizzo will step into his acclaimed off-Broadway drama February 24 and 25 as over-achiever Johnson. Colaizzo subs for show star Kobi Libii, who is taking leave from the production in order to film the new Mark Consuelos/John Goodman pilot Alpha House.
Of his big off-Broadway moment, Colaizzo cleverly tweeted, “Really Really's Kobi Libii booked a pilot! [Director David] Cromer asked me to play Johnson this weekend. I'm working with the playwright to expand the role.”
In the Alpha House pilot Libii will play Aaron Stimson, a senator’s staff member, according to Deadline.com. The show, which co-stars Consuelos, Goodman and Yara Martinez, follows four senators who live together in a rented house in Washington D.C. The pilot is penned by Oscar nominee and Pulitzer Prize winner Garry Trudeau.
Libii previously appeared as Alex Farmer on the TV series Brainstorm. In addition to Really Really, his off-Broadway stage credits include CQ/CX and Ohio State Murders.
Really Really stars Zosia Mamet (Girls) and Matt Lauria (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood) as a pair of college students at the center of a major and mysterious campus scandal. The show opened at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on February 19 and will continue through March 24. Check out which hit musical Colaizzo said inspired him to write the play by clicking here.
